The 7 seater SUV segment in India has rapidly gained popularity. Indian buyers now want a larger ride with more comfort at affordable prices. Automakers in the past few years have been successful in launching affordable and high-performance SUVs in different price brackets such as Toyota Fortuner, Maruti Ertiga, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra XUV500, etc, for the Indian market. The buyers also showed a great amount of interest in these cars which indicated to the automakers to launch more of such models in the Indian market.
In this article, we provide you with a list of the new 7 seater SUV cars that are confirmed to be launched in the Indian market in 2021.
1. Hyundai Alcazar
Hyundai has confirmed that a seven-seater version of the Creta SUV, called the Hyundai Alcazar, will be introduced to the Indian market this year. Hyundai has also revealed the design sketch of the 7 seater SUV. The Alcazar SUV is likely to go on sale in the second quarter of 2021. The new car will compete with Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the next generation Mahindra XUV500.
The Hyundai Alcazar will be driven at a 20 mm longer wheelbase and will be 30 mm longer than the Creta. This will allow Hyundai to free up space for the third row of seats. The new Alcazar will get an extended rear and thicker D-pillar. If reports are to be believed the SUV will also have Hyundai SmartSense technology which includes features such as Automatic Emergency Braking Technology, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Automatic Reverse Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Warning, etc. The new Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in a 6- and 7-seat design. The SUV will likely have 1.5-liter petrol, 1.5-liter diesel, and 1.4-liter GDI turbocharged petrol engine.
2. Jeep H6
Jeep launched two new models in India this year, the Jeep Compass Facelift and Jeep Wrangler. Now, the carmaker is gearing up for an all-new 7 seater SUV based on the Compass platform. The Small-Wide 4 × 4 platforms, will be modified to fit an SUV with a longer wheelbase. A longer wheelbase will help Jeep create additional space for the third row of seats. The new Jeep H6 will compete with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor.
The SUV will share interior panels and features with the Compass. However, it will have a completely new dashboard design and a larger infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a smartphone and connected car technology. The new seven-seater SUV will be equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine, producing almost 200 hp of power and a torque of more than 400 Nm.
3. New Mahindra XUV500
The next generation of the XUV500 SUV will be launched by Mahindra in the second half of 2021. The production-spec model has been tested several times. However, the launch was postponed for several months due to the shortage of semiconductor chips globally. The new model will be bigger in size which will create more space in the cabin. The 7 seater SUV will come with a longer wheelbase and high-end features.
The latest photos reveal that the new Mahindra XUV500 will have a dual-screen, inspired by Mercedes, on the dashboard for the touch screen and instrument console. The SUV will come with cruise control, automatic air conditioning, a touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, LED headlights with LED DRL lights, LED taillights and more. The SUV will be offered with two engine options: a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine and a new 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine.
4. Mahindra Bolero Neo
Mahindra will re-launch the TUV300 SUV with a different name. The new model will be called the Mahindra Bolero Neo and will be sold alongside the regular Bolero. Bolero Neo will look similar to the previous TUV300, which features a clam-shell bonnet, square wheel arches, and headlights. The new Bolero Neo will come with a new front fascia with an updated grille and reconfigured headlights.
The 7 seater SUV will have a revised dashboard layout and an updated center console with a new touchscreen infotainment system. The Bolero Neo can also get new seat upholstery and a tool console. It is likely to be powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5L diesel engine producing 100 hp and 240Nm of torque. Transmission options will likely include a five-speed manual transmission and AMT.
5. Mahindra Scorpio
The new generation Mahindra Scorpio will be launched in the last quarter of 2021. The 7 seater SUV has been tested several times. The spy photos confirm that the new Scorpio will maintain the legendary square profile; However, all the design elements are brand new. The best part is the new model will offer forward-facing third-row seats. It will be based on the new ZEN3 platform, which is compatible with the new Thar.
The new Mahindra Scorpio will come with a completely new interior in black and beige dual-tone scheme It comes equipped with an engine start/stop button, a panoramic sunroof, a new multifunction steering wheel, a new console, a large vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system, and more. It will get a new 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which will likely be tuned to deliver 152 hp. The diesel version will receive a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, which can generate about 158 hp.
