Ultraviolette Automotive is a tech startup based out of Bangalore, Ka
ataka, India. The company has unveiled its first product, the Ultraviolette F77 in India. It is the first-ever performance-oriented electric motorcycle of India. Ultraviolette F77 claims to have a maximum speed of over 140 kmph.
Ultraviolette Automotive has successfully launched the Ultraviolette F77 in three colors and the expected price of the motorcycle is around Rs 3 lakh and 3.25 lakh. However, the exact price of the bike has not been declared as yet. Also, the Ultraviolette F77 is on sale only in the city of Bengaluru, as of now.
Online registrations have been opened for the purchase of the bike. The bookings of the bike have opened, with deliveries that will be starting in the month of October 2020. The motorcycle has been powered by an air-cooled brushless DC (BLDC) motor that gives an output of 25 kW (33.5 bhp) and claims a top speed of 147 kmph, that comes with acceleration times of 0 to 60 kmph in 2.9 seconds, and 0 to 100 kmph in 7.5 seconds.
The motorcycle will have three riding modes namely, Eco, Sport, and Insane, and has a maximum torque of 450 Nm on the back wheels of the Ultraviolette F77.
The F77 produces 90Nm, hence making it the most powerful electric motorcycle in India currently. The motorcycle has a total of three removable lithium-ion battery packs that measure 4.2kWh in total and these allow the motorcycle to cover a total of 150km on a single full charge in the urban conditions. Ultraviolette Automotive has made sure of the DC fast-charging capability, which basically means that it will take 50 minutes to charge up to 80 percent and about 90 minutes for a 100 percent charge.
The F77 has a trellis frame suspended on an upside-down fork and a mono-shock as well. It has a front disc measuring 320mm and the rear disc measures 230mm. These provide the stopping power to the Ultraviolette F77. Some of the features of the F77 include the switchable dual-channel ABS, a full-color 5 inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, a bike locator, OTA updates and data-logging. The bike also has an app dedicated to the over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics, bike locator as well as ride analysis features. The regenerative braking, maximum speed limiter, and the torque delivery controller can be easily managed through the dedicated app. Ultraviolette will be offering a dedicated charging network, that will begin in, Bengaluru firstly and then will be spread to the pan-India charging network.
The Ultraviolette F77 is available in three color options namely, Lightning, Shadow, and Laser. The bike has a sporty look with sharp body design.
Ultraviolette Automotive is a tech startup that has received its funding from the leading two-wheeler manufacturer of India, the TVS Motor Company a year ago. TVS has successfully invested in around Rs. 11 crores in two rounds with a 25.76 percent stake in Ultraviolette Automotive. The tech startup was founded in the year 2015 by Mr. Niraj Rajmohan and Mr. Narayan Subramaniam, who are both alumni of the BMS College of Engineering in Bengaluru, India.
The only electric bikes that are offered in India include the Revolt's RV300 and the RV400, apart from the Ultraviolette F77, hence there isn't any real competition to the bike. The Ultraviolette F77 has only one variant currently, STD.
