Jeep has officially launched the locally assembled Jeep Wrangler in India. The Indian-made Wrangler has a hefty price tag of Rs. 53.90 (ex-showroom). The five-seat off-road vehicle now comes to India as a semi-subtractive unit (SKD) rather than a completely knocked down unit (CBU). The company began accepting advance reservations for the SUV last month. Local assembly of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler began at the same time at Jeep’s Ranganjaon manufacturing plant near Pune in Maharashtra.
The new Wrangler is part of Fiat Chrysler’s expansion plan to the Indian market. The company has invested more than $ 250 million to increase its presence in India with the launch of four SUVs under its Jeep brand over the next two years. While the 2021 Jeep Compass was the first product to be introduced from the Ranjangaon plant, the second product was the new Jeep Wrangler. Additionally, the other two products will be the Jeep three-row SUV and the next-generation Grand Cherokee.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is available in two grades: Unlimited and Rubicon. The domestically produced Wrangler has a seven-segment grille with round LED headlights, side fender-mounted side markers, 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, LED taillights, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and more. The automaker also offers SUVs the option to remove the roof and doors. The SUV will be available in five colors: Black, Deep Red, Crystal Granite, Glossy Gray, and Glossy White.
