Tata Nexon, Curvv, and Curvv EV Achieve 5-Star Ratings in Bharat NCAP Crash Tests

Tata Motors continues to demonstrate its commitment to vehicle safety, with the latest Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) crash test results awarding five-star ratings to the Tata Curvv, Curvv EV, and Nexon models. This accomplishment highlights Tata’s dedication to safety across both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants.

Tata Curvv ICE Crash Test Results

The Tata Curvv ICE variant, specifically the Accomplished Plus A diesel-manual model, achieved a five-star rating with a score of 29.50 out of 32 for adult occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it earned 14.65 out of 16 points, and in the side movable deformable barrier test, it scored 14.85 out of 16 points. The test results indicated that the protection for the driver and front passenger ranged from good to adequate, except for the driver’s left shin, which was rated as marginal.

For child occupant protection, the Curvv ICE scored 43.66 out of 49 points. The child restraint systems for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were rearward-facing in the rear seats, earning a dynamic score of 22.66 out of 24. The vehicle assessment score was 9 out of 13, with a perfect 12 out of 12 points awarded for child restraint installation. These ratings apply to all ICE variants of the Curvv.

Tata Curvv EV Safety Performance

The Curvv EV, specifically the Empowered Plus A 55 kWh variant, outperformed its ICE counterpart, achieving a score of 30.81 out of 32 for adult occupant protection. It scored 15.66 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.15 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. The protection for the driver and front passenger was rated as generally good, with shin protection deemed adequate.

For child occupant protection, the Curvv EV scored 44.83 out of 49 points, slightly higher than the ICE version. The dynamic score for the 18-month-old dummy was a perfect 12 points, contributing to an overall dynamic score of 23.83 out of 24. The vehicle assessment score remained consistent at 9 out of 13, with a perfect score for child restraint installation.

Tata Nexon’s Outstanding Safety Rating

The Tata Nexon, a popular subcompact SUV, also earned a five-star rating from Bharat NCAP. The tested model, equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, electronic stability control (ESC), and seat belt reminders for all seats, scored 29.41 out of 32 for adult occupant protection. It earned 14.65 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 14.76 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test.

For child occupant protection, the Nexon achieved 43.83 out of 49 points, showcasing Tata Motors’ consistent focus on child safety. Like the Curvv, the Nexon excelled in dynamic tests and child restraint installation, reinforcing its five-star safety rating.
