Tata Power, one of the largest integrated power services utility has signed a memorandum of understanding with MG Motor. As part of the association, Tata Power will deploy 50-kW DC superfast chargers at select locations of MG dealerships and offer end-to-end EV charging solutions to MG dealers across India.
This is in addition to the company’s announcement last month, as Tata Power announced its intent to deploy 700 EZ charge EV charging stations by 2021.
Through this partnership, MG Motor India says its goal is to lay a specific focus on the key target cities where they are foraying into as part of their future EV expansion plans. These ultra-fast 50kW DC chargers will be accessible by both MG ZS EV customers as well as other EV owners whose vehicles compatible with the CCS/CHAdeMO charging standards.
Currently, MG Motor India has a total of 10 SuperFast 50kw charging stations across its dealerships in five cities: New Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, and is expanding it to more cities.
On the other hand, Tata Power has established an elaborate EV charging ecosystem with over 180 charging points in 19 different cities under the EZ Charge brand, along with a digital platform to facilitate a smooth and easy customer experience. MG-Tata Power Partnership will include core values and operating models in line with its existing customer-centric approach, including exploring the possibility of the second life of EV batteries.
