June 2025 Car Sales Report for Hyundai MG and Honda

What motivates Indian automobile consumers today? Is it the thrill of comfort, the safety of dependability, or the excitement of new technology? As the results start to come in for June 2025 sales volumes, the Indian car market is telling an interesting story of currents and counter-currents—there are some brands driving forward with confidence while others pause to determine a new course for this volatile economic landscape.

Hyundai: Export Power Amid Domestic Slide

Hyundai Motor India, a key player in the passenger vehicle sector in India, recorded total sales of 60,924 units in June 2025, which is a decrease of 6% from June 2024. The domestic market showed the drop more steeply, with sales decreasing 12.1% to 44,024 units.

Yet, Hyundai’s export figures are a silver lining:

  • Exports grew by 15% YoY to 16,900 units, up from 14,700 units last June.

  • In Q1 FY2026, Hyundai recorded 48,140 units exported, a 13% YoY increase.

Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and COO, Hyundai Motor India, emphasized that export contributions rose to 26.7% of total sales, highlighting the global appeal of Hyundai vehicles amid local market challenges.

JSW MG Motor: A Strong Climb with Future Luxury Push

While the Hyundai brand consolidates its position domestically, JSW MG Motor India reported a very positive 21% YoY growth rate, selling 5,829 units in June 2025. This growth is indicative of MG's sustained momentum within India's highly competitive passenger vehicle market.

Key highlights:

  • The brand is preparing to enter the luxury segment with the MG M9 Presidential Limousine and the MG Cyberster, which MG claims is the world’s fastest MG.

  • Both will retail through MG Select, the brand’s luxury sales channel, targeting premium consumers seeking advanced technology and design.

  • MG’s Halol facility in Gujarat, with a capacity of over 1 lakh vehicles annually, continues to support its vision of Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric (CASE) mobility.

This strong growth signals MG’s confidence in scaling operations while nurturing India’s appetite for premium electric and connected vehicles.

Honda Cars India: Navigating a Cautious Market

Meanwhile, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) reported total sales of 5,124 units in June 2025, including 4,618 domestic sales and 506 exports.

Kunal Behl, VP, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India, acknowledged the cautious consumer sentiment and emphasized inventory regulation while expressing optimism for an uptick in demand with:

  • A favourable monsoon

  • Upcoming festive season

  • Enhanced dealership-level activations

Honda aims to strengthen its product portfolio and customer experience as it gears up for the festive quarter, focusing on sustainable growth in a competitive market.

Conclusion

June 2025 clearly paints a picture: India's automotive marketplace is realigning, not losing momentum. Although Hyundai is leveraging its solid exports to offset headwinds at home, and JSW MG Motor is capturing some new excitement with its consistent momentum and future plans for luxury. Honda is cautiously steady and aligned with the shifting sentiments of buyers, as well as the optimism that accompanies every festival season.

For consumers, this means better options, newer technologies, and easier pathways to premium experiences over the next few months. And as they adapt to the changes on India's roads and the intent of buyers, it's proven, this is a story to keep a close eye on as the auto industry and buyers continue along their journey.
