A global technology and services provider Bosch has invested Rs. 800 crores to upgrade its campus in Adugodi, Bengaluru, to Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), the “Bosch Smart Campus”, said the Wednesday senior executive of the company.
This will be the company’s largest technical campus outside of Europe, showcasing its digital use cases and likely to have the second-highest number of Bosch employees in the world, Soumitra Bhattacharya, CEO of Bosch Ltd and regional director of Bosch Group in India, said.
“In our bosch smart campus here in Adugodi on 75 acres we are investing more than INR 800 crore to make it one of the smartest campuses,” he told a virtual conference. “This is going to be one of the largest tech centers that we have in the world and likely to be the largest outside Europe,”
The German auto components manufacturer employs 31,500 employees and 18,000 engineers at 7 locations in India, representing the largest Bosch R&D workforce outside of Germany.
“This is going to house, very likely, the second-highest number of Bosch employees in the world… Already we house more than 3,000 software engineers. The number may go up to 10,000 by the time we finish all the buildings,” Bhattacharya said.
The Adugodi campus is expected to open in June 2022, when the group will complete 100 years of its existence in India.
According to Bhattacharya, the campus will be a base for the group’s various companies in India, including the departments of home appliances, power tools, powertrains, and automotive after-sales service, and may house some 10,000 software engineers at the time of completion.
