Volkswagen has revealed the 2021 Polo facelift for global markets. The new Polo will get level two autonomous driving for the first time. Earlier this year, Volkswagen launched the 2021 T-Roc and also revealed the Taigun and Tiguan facelift for the Indian market.
The 2021 Polo also received a redesigned bumper, trunk lid, new LED headlights, and taillight combinations. LED headlights are standard and optional. It can be equipped with the IQ.LIGHT matrix joined together by a chrome strip that runs along the front. The front bumper is new, while the rear receives 3D-effect LED headlights.
The Polo R-Line variant will have 16-inch wheels as standard. You will also get the new IQ. LED Light Matrix headlights as standard, along with a sporty-looking body kit. The front bumper is partially inspired by the Golf R, and it also has a different rear bumper with faux chrome-effect exhaust tips integrated into a new glossy black rear diffuser.
The Polo 2021 is 4,053mm long, 1,751mm wide, and 1,446mm high. The wheelbase of the new Polo Hatchback is 2564 mm. The alloy wheels have also been updated with new designs and are now available in options ranging from 15 to 17 inches.
The 2021 Polo features a new 8-inch digital cockpit that comes standard, with a larger 10.25-inch screen option on the high-spec model. The infotainment system has also been updated with a 6.5-, 8- or 9.2-inch touchscreen system. It will also offer We Connect and We Connect Plus services, as well as wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The multifunction steering wheel also features a new design. It is similar to the Volkswagen Golf.
The new-generation Volkswagen Polo facelift will be offered in four new colors called Ascot Grey, Kings Red, Vibrant Violet, and Rauchgrau, along with Pure White, Reflex Silver, Reef Blue, and Deep Black.
Mechanically, the 2021 Volkswagen Polo will be offered with three ranges of engines. The base 1.0 naturally aspirated engine would make 79 hp, the mid-spec 1.0-liter TSI engine would produce 94 hp, while the best-in-class TSI engine would produce 108 hp. All three engines will be offered with the option of a 6-speed manual transmission or a dual-speed transmission.
In terms of safety, the Polo facelift gets the semi-autonomous driving IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist system, which combines adaptive cruise control with the frontal monitoring system for emergency braking in the city, lane-keeping assistant, and parking assistant. and fatigue detection system at the wheel.
