The Indian two-wheeler industry experienced a mixed performance in July 2025, with subtle market growth overshadowed by significant positional shifts among leading manufacturers. Total domestic dispatches closed just shy of 15 lakh units, reflecting a marginal uptick from June. However, brand-level performances told a more dynamic story marked by Honda’s resurgence, Hero’s decline, and TVS’s sustained momentum.
Honda’s Commanding Comeback
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India staged a remarkable recovery, topping the sales chart with 4,66,331 units in July, a sharp rebound from 3,88,000 units in June. The brand’s month-on-month surge not only displaced Hero from the top spot but also reflected a 6.20% year-on-year growth over July 2024’s 4,39,118 units. This renewed dominance positions Honda favourably ahead of the high-demand festive period.
Hero’s Unexpected Setback
Hero MotoCorp, traditionally the market leader, faced a notable downturn, selling 4,12,397 units, down by more than 1.12 lakh units from June. Despite this steep month-on-month decline, Hero still achieved 18.66% YoY growth compared to July 2024. The drop, however, raises questions about short-term demand fluctuations and competitive pressures.
TVS Strengthens Market Position
TVS Motor Company continued its growth trajectory, surpassing the 3 lakh-unit mark with 3,08,720 units sold. This represents a 21.42% YoY growth and an improvement of nearly 28,000 units from June. TVS’s balanced portfolio of scooters and motorcycles continues to resonate strongly across urban and rural markets.
Bajaj and Suzuki Under Pressure
Bajaj Auto registered 1,39,279 units, a 17.51% YoY decline, signalling headwinds in both domestic and export demand. Suzuki Motorcycle India, while improving in June sales by over 22,000 units, recorded a 4.55% YoY contraction, selling 96,029 units versus 1,00,602 units a year earlier.
Royal Enfield’s Premium Growth Story
Royal Enfield maintained steady monthly performance, closing July at 76,254 units, marginally lower than June. However, its 24.58% YoY growth underscores robust demand in the mid-capacity and premium motorcycle segments, with the Hunter 350 and Himalayan 450 driving volumes.

Market Outlook
While July’s aggregate growth was modest, the reshuffling of the leaderboard signals heightened competition ahead of the festive season. Honda’s aggressive push, Hero’s market correction, and TVS’s steady climb could make August and September pivotal months. Meanwhile, premium motorcycle demand remains resilient, offering growth opportunities for players like Royal Enfield.
