Mercedes-AMG, the performance division of the German luxury car manufacturer, will launch the AMG E53 4MATIC+ and AMG E63 S 4MATIC+ models in India on July 15, 2021. The company plans to launch 15 new cars in the country in 2021 and the two performance-focused sedans are part of the company’s launch plans. As part of the new modernization, both models received a set of cosmetic and feature improvements.
Visually, the Mercedes AMG E53 4MATIC gets a redesigned front end with LED headlights and an AMG-specific grille with an A-shaped surround with five vertical struts that enhance the impression of width. The car will be available with a choice of 19-inch and 20-inch light-alloy wheels in a five-spoke design. The 2021 Mercedes AMG E63 S receives a new set of cosmetic updates in the shape of the redesigned front section with a larger central cooling air intake and AMG-specific radiator grille with 12 vertical vents and a large center star. The vehicle will have 20-inch five-spoke forged alloy wheels as standard and aerodynamically optimized, while customers can also opt for 19-inch 10-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels.
Mechanically, the E53 will be equipped with 450bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged In-line six-cylinder petrol engine, which is further assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid system called ‘EQ Boost’ that doubles up as a starter-generator motor with 22 bhp and 250Nm of torque. With the help of a 9-speed automatic transmission all this power is sent to all four wheels. The Mercedes AMG E53 from a standstill can reach to 100kph in just 4.4 seconds.
Mercedes AMG E53 has five DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, such as: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Individual. The AMG E63 S will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 603 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Both models will offer the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive unit as standard.
Like the E53 AMG, with the help of a 9-speed automatic transmission the power is sent to all four wheels, and the system can catapult this luxury barge from a standstill to 100kph in just 3.4 seconds.
