Currently, the prices of Verna start off at Rs 8.18 Lakhs up to Rs 14.08 Lakhs. Once the new generation is launch, we are expecting the price of 2020 Hyundai Verna to start off at Rs 9.5 Lakhs and the top-spec variant to go up to Rs 15 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom).

Verna will obtain its engines from Kia Seltos, replacing all its existing engines. You’ll get a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter diesel engine produces 115 horsepower and 250 Nm of maximum torque.

While we expected Verna to have a 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine, it would opt for a smaller turbo Petrol. The sedan will borrow its Venue, the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder TGD-I turbo Petrol engine. The engine will produce 120 horsepower and 172nm of torque, making it the most powerful sedan in its class. All engines will be BS6 compatible from launch. To date, only limited stocks of BS4 Verna are sold at deep discounts. The engines themselves will run the new Creta.

The 6-speed manual transmission is standard on all variants. Additionally, the diesel engine will have the 6-speed AT option. The turbocharged petrol engine is also likely to get a new 7-speed DCT gearbox as standard. Plus, to make things “quicker and angrier”, you’ll get paddle switches. The Petrol engine will get a CVT gearbox as an option.

The dimensions of 2020 Verna will remain the same. Although the Chinese specification model is slightly longer at 26mm. The space inside the cabin will be a little more and this may mean a smaller boot.

Exterior design

The new Verna is completely revamped when it comes to design. Now, he looks more inspiring than Sonata and Elantra. There is a large successive Hyundai grill at the front surrounded by new LED lights. The front and rear fenders are completely remodeled for a sharper appearance.

You get new two-color alloy wheels that look like the rest of the new Hyundai models. At the rear, the boot flange will also undergo slight changes. There are more pronounced LED-wrapped taillights that stick to the strips and LED lights as well.

Interior design

Inside the cabin, you’ll get a new dash look with changes to the furnishings, too. There’s a new steering wheel, a brand new semi-digital console, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. Chances are that the gasoline turbine variants can get completely black interiors, while other variants can have a two-tone appearance.

Competition

Hyundai Verna 2020 will face the competition with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. Even the new generation of City is coming, which is also set for big updates. As for Vento and Rapid, they will only be present as gasoline models from April. Ciaz has a gasoline engine as it is now, but soon it will also have a diesel engine.
