How to apply for online learner’s driving license: Complete guide and steps

Considering getting your learner's license to learn to drive legally? It is crucial to have a learner's license to protect yourself from accidents and avoid a fine of Rs. 5,000 (in Delhi). A learner's license allows a citizen to legally learn to drive from someone who has a permanent driver's license. It is the first step in the process of applying for a permanent driver's license. These fines vary from state to state and depend on different traffic violations.

Today, with the advent of technology, it is also possible to apply for a learning license online. In addition, it is possible to take the test from anywhere and obtain the license in a few hours.

Although it is noteworthy that in order to obtain a permanent driver's license one has to physically appear at the transportation office and qualify for the driving test. Only after qualifying for the driving test can a permanent driver's license be obtained. Here is the complete guide to online procedures to obtain an educational driver's license.

Step 1. Access the website of the Ministry of Land Transport and Highways. (https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelection.do)

Step 2. Choose your state from the drop-down list.

Step 3 – Choose to apply for a learner license from the list.

Step 4 - Select the applicant with the Aadhaar option to take the test from anywhere or from home.

Step 5 - Check the box for the applicant without a driver's license issued in India and click the Submit button.

Step 6 - Check the box for the Send via Aadhaar authentication option and click the Send button.

Step 7 - After submitting the Aadhaar card details and mobile number, click the Generate OTP button.

Step 8 - After entering the OTP, check all the details. Then check the boxes to agree to the terms and conditions. Also, click the Authenticate button.

Step 9 - Choose a payment method for the license fee.

Step 10 - A 10-minute driving video is required to continue the test.

Step 11 - After the video tutorial is complete, a one-time password and test password will be sent to the registered phone number.

Step 12 - To start the trial, complete the form and continue. Repair the front camera of your device and turn it on.

Step 13 - Take the test and answer at least six of the 10 questions correctly to pass the test.

Step 14 - After the proof is scanned, the authorization link will be sent to the registered phone number. In case the proof is not removed, there will be a fee of Rs. 50 to appear for the test again.
