Tata Motors has unveiled its latest special edition, the Nexon EV Red Dark Edition, expanding its offerings in the electric vehicle market. Priced at ₹17.19 lakh, this edition is based on the top-spec Empowered 45+ variant, coming at an additional cost of ₹20,000 over the standard model.
Striking Design Features
The Nexon EV Red Dark Edition features a distinctive exterior, characterized by a fully blacked-out design complemented by subtle red accents on both the front and rear. The standout visual element is the Red Dark badging on the front fenders, setting it apart from other models. Inside, the cabin is transformed with a vibrant red theme, featuring a black dashboard paired with red upholstery and the #Dark emblem embossed on the headrests.
Upgraded Interior and Technology
This special edition builds on an already well-equipped cabin by introducing a panoramic sunroof with voice control, alongside the addition of a frunk (front trunk) for extra storage. Other notable interior highlights include dual digital displays, a 360-degree camera system, connected car technology, climate control with rear AC vents, and a comprehensive LED lighting package.
Performance and Charging Capabilities
The Nexon EV Red Dark Edition is equipped exclusively with the 45+ battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 350 to 379 km. Tata Motors notes that, theoretically, this range could extend up to 489 km under optimal conditions. When connected to a 60 kW charger, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes, and users can recover up to 130 km of range in a mere 15 minutes of charging.
A Planned Update for Festive Season Launch
The introduction of the Red Dark Edition appears to be a strategic update for the compact SUV, coinciding with Tata’s festive season launch initiatives. Alongside the new Nexon CNG, this special edition aims to enhance Tata's presence in the electric vehicle segment while appealing to consumers seeking unique styling and advanced features.
With the launch of the Nexon EV Red Dark Edition, Tata Motors continues to innovate and expand its electric vehicle lineup, making strides toward a more sustainable future in the automotive industry.
