Citroen starts commercial production of C5 Aircross SUV in India

Citroën has started commercial production in the country of C5 Aircross SUV from its plant in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The flagship SUV is Citroen's first product and will be launched this quarter.rnCitroen is part of the Stellantis Group, which was formed through the merger of two major global automakers: FCA and Groupe PSA.rnGroupe PSA has two joint ventures with CK Birla Group of Companies in India to assemble, distribute and manufacture their cars in India.rnThe company said that the production of the C5 Aircross began after strict tests of the car over a range of more than 2.5 lakh kilometers in various terrain and various climatic conditions in the countryrnThe Citron C5 Aircross SUV will be powered by a 2-liter diesel engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.rnrnEmmanuel Delay, executive vice-president, Stellantis, and chairman, PCA Automobile India Pvt Ltd & PSA AVTEC Powertrain Pvt Ltd, said, “We are excited to officially roll out the first Citroën C5 Aircross SUV, which will be the first of many differentiating products for India from the brand.”rnrn“There is a lot of market anticipation for the new Citroën C5 Aircross SUV, which will set a benchmark in style, comfort, and innovation in its segment in India,” Delay said.rnThe brand will be targeting key Indian cities in the first leg with its globally renowned “La Maison Citroen” showroom concept. The brand will target major Indian cities in the first phase with the world-famous "La Maison Citroen" showroom concept.
