Ducati has consistently offered smaller, more affordable models of the Panigale and Streetfighter series motorcycles, and the V2 is the most recent member of the 'mid-range' Ducati lineup. If you consider a bike with a 153bhp, 101Nm 955cc L-twin engine to be a middleweight, then it is. Having a similar bold design like its larger counterpart and featuring the signature single-sided swingarm, the Streetfighter V2 is a unique bike with ample performance for a reasonable price, especially within the Ducati lineup.

BMW S 1000R

BMW's sports flagship, the S 1000 R, is considered a sleek and practical proposition compared to its Italian peers. However, with a maximum power output of 165 hp, this is indispensable. Add to that the fact that you can option the S 1000 R with carbon fiber wheels and heated grips, and it looks like this bare-bones class combines practicality with explosive performance. The standard variant costs 19 lakhs. The top-of-the-line Pro and M Sport variants are priced at Rs 20.45 lakh and Rs 23.30 lakh respectively.

Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

Triumph revamped the Rapid Triple a few years ago, and this wasn't just a facelift or update; it was a completely new model from the start. It was much lighter than the first 1050 and much more powerful as well. With this increase in performance, Triumph also gave the Speed triple keyless ignition, carbon fiber tips and heated grips to increase its premium quotient. At Rs 17.95 lakh, the SpeedTriple 1200 RS is the cheapest European super naked you can buy today, which makes it excellent value in this category.

Suzuki Hayabusa

When Suzuki updated the Hayabusa to its latest avatar (3rd generation), instead of shouting at it, it decided to take a more measured approach. Busa lost some power, but got a set of electronic aids, better suspension and more comfortable ergonomics. And with 190bhp and 150Nm of torque, it's still a ridiculously quick and capable vehicle for covering the miles. The regular Hayabusa is priced at Rs 16.90 lakh and the 25th anniversary edition is priced at Rs 17.70 lakh.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R

Ever since Kawasaki decided to bring the Ninja ZX-10R to India through the CKD route, thereby attracting lower taxes and duties, it has been the most popular variant in the Indian market. The ZX-10R produces 203bhp from its 999cc inline-four engine (213bhp with RAM air assist) and is equipped with a host of electronic driving aids. Although it's a serious supersport, with the move to Euro 5/BS6 in 2021, Kawasaki has fitted it with cruise control, which should add a pinch of practicality to this focused machine. The icing on the cake is that the most powerful bike here is also the cheapest at Rs 16.79,000.
