The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 goes on sale in India, with prices starting at Rs. 3.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The cruiser made its Indian debut at Rider Mania 2022 in November 2022. The Super Meteor 650 is Royal Enfield's most expensive motorcycle and also the most feature-rich model yet! Bookings for the bike started in November 2022 and RE says deliveries are likely to start the first week of February 2023.
The Royal Enfield Meteor 650 boasts of a quintessential retro cruiser styling with an upright riding position, teardrop fuel tank, large rear fender, round LED headlight (a first for any RE motorcycle), round taillight, rear seat, the old school two-piece cover with no knobs and a prominent dual exhaust.
The Royal Enfield Meteor 650 is based on the design of the Meteor 350 and resembles the bigger brother of the smaller cruiser. The Royal Enfield badge on the fuel tank also has a new design and finish, and the cast aluminum shift blocks (again, a first for any RE motorcycle), are one of the notable features that add to its premium appeal.
The Super Meteor 650 is built on the same platform as the 650 twin, but uses a new tubular steel frame for a more relaxed and comfortable riding position. The motorcycle is powered by the same 648cc air/oil cooled parallel twin engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine develops 47 PS at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm, similar to that provided by the parallel-twin engine found in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
The new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has 43mm upside down forks with 120mm of travel at the front, which is again an RE bike for the first time, and dual shocks at the rear, with 101mm of travel. There is a 19-inch wheel in the front and a 16-inch wheel in the rear. In terms of braking features, the Super Meteor has a single 320mm disc up front with a two-piston caliper, while the rear has a 300mm disc. Two-channel ABS is offered as standard. The motorcycle tips the scales at 241 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 15.7 liters.
In terms of features, the Super Meteor 650 has a circular flush-mounted console, along with an RE Tripper navigation pod borrowed from the Meteor 350. The new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will be offered in the Solo variant in five color options: Star Black, Blue star and stellar green, interstellar gray and interstellar green. The Super Meteor 650 Tourer is a great touring model and will be available in two colors: Sky Red and Sky Blue. As part of the Grand Tourer package, various accessories will be offered, including leather fairings, taller windshields, engine crash guards, larger rear view mirrors and a rear seat backrest.
