✦ AI Summary

The Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP have been launched in India. The standard V2 has been priced at Rs 16.53 lakh while the V2 SP will sell for Rs 20.78 lakh (both ex-showroom prices). The latest addition to the Supermotard lineup happens to replace the now discontinued Hypermotard 950 and bring along a lightweight monocoque chassis, an 890cc V-twin engine producing a maximum power of 120 hp, and a suite of electronic systems inclusive of a 6-axis IMU, as well as a 5-inch TFT display. The booking of Ducati motorcycles has already started at dealers across the country.

What Is New on the Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP

Ducati has reworked the Hypermotard from the frame outwards. The key changes include:

  • Monocoque Frame: The engine now acts as a structural element, paired with a double-sided aluminum swingarm.
  • Lower Weight: The new V2 is 13kg lighter than the previous generation, while the V2 SP is 14kg lighter.
  • Kerb Weight: The V2 weighs 180kg and the V2 SP weighs 177kg, both without fuel.
  • Riding Position: The seat height is 880mm, with a supermotard-style upright stance.
  • Lower Seat Options: An accessory low seat brings it down to 865mm, and adding a low suspension kit reduces it to 850mm.

Engine and Gearbox Specifications

Both variants use the same 890 cc, liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin. The engine makes 120 hp at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. Compared with the Hypermotard 950, that is about 6hp more power and 2Nm less torque.

Ducati has added variable intake valve timing, and the company claims about 70 percent of peak torque is available at 3,000 rpm. The engine weighs 54.4 kg, which Ducati describes as its lightest twin-cylinder unit. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter. An optional racing exhaust adds 3.6hp and saves 4kg.
