After being constantly teased over the past week, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift has finally launched in the Indian market with launch prices starting at Rs 6.35 (ex showroom). Pre-launch bookings for the updated hatch commenced earlier this month, with the booking amount set at Rs 11,000.

The 2022 Baleno is offered in four trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The premium hatchback measures length of 3,990mm, a width of 1,745mm and a height of 1,500mm, and a wheelbase of 2,520mm. The length of the updated car has been reduced by 5mm compared to the previous model, while all other dimensions are the same as before.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 Facelift: Exterior design
The overall silhouette of the Baleno remains unchanged. However, Maruti Suzuki has made a lot of changes to make the car look fresh. The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift gets a new, wider front grille flanked by new, slimmer LED headlights with DRLs, redesigned fog lamp housing, updated front and rear bumpers, new 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and new LED taillights that extend all the way to the rear hatch.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 facelift: Variants and Color options
The new Baleno is available in six variants namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alfa Maruti. Suzuki offers the car in five exterior color options: Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Luxe Beige, Pearl Arctic White, Grandeur Gray and Splendid Silver.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 Facelift: Interior Design and Features
The cabin of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift follows a new two new dual-tone deep blue and black with contrasting silver accents. The flat-bottom steering wheel has been borrowed from Swift, albeit with a silver insert. The car also comes with a new climate control panel and revised instrument cluster. Vertical air vents on the pre-facelift model make way for conventional-looking horizontal units placed under the free-standing infotainment system.
However, the 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment unit comes with a built-in voice assistant, Suzuki Connect car-connected technology, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Other features on offer include an Arkamys-tuned audio system, rear AC vents, rear USB A and USB C ports, cruise control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, as well as a top-tier head-up display.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 facelift: Engine and Transmission
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is being offered with a sole 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90PS Power and 113 Nm of torque. The DualJet engine comes with idle start-stop feature and can be had with the 5-speed MT or the optional 5-speed AGS (automatic). The fuel efficiency of the engine is 22.35 kilometers per second for the manual and 22.94 kilometers per second for the automatic.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 facelift: Safety features
The safety features on offer with the new Baleno include 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ESP with Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, high-speed alert system, and a segment-first 360-degree camera.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 facelift: Rivals
The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno retains its rivalry with the likes of Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz, as well as the Toyota Glanza, which is also expected to receive similar updates soon.
