India Yamaha Motor (IYM) announced that it has launched a new variant of the YZF-R15 V3.0 bike, priced at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The two-wheeler maker said in a statement that the YZF-R15S V3, which comes with a unibody seat, will be sold alongside the YZF-R15 V4 across all authorized Yamaha dealers in India.
The R15S V3 is powered by 155cc which produces a maximum power of 18.6 PS. The fuel injection motor with variable valve operation (VVA) is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
It will continue to feature a multi-function LCD instrument cluster with gear shift indicator, dual-channel ABS, assist & slipper clutch, side stand with engine cut-off switch, and a super-wide radial rear tyre.
“The YZF-R15 in its 3.0 version was a great success, as it proved to be the most exciting model in the 150cc super sports car class with advanced features and technologies.a
"While the YZF-R15 V4 is highly appreciated by customers across India, our research has shown that customers are also looking for a more viable option to commute with a pillion without compromising the R15 racing DNA." said the president of the Yamaha Motor India Group Motofumi Shitara.
He added that the company always listens to customers and does its best to meet these demands, hence the launch of the R15S V3 with a unibody seat, he added.
Shitara noted that following the introduction of the brand's The Call of the Blue campaign in 2018, the R15 model range has seen impressive growth in sales.
Considering the period between January 2018 to October 2021, we have garnered a total sale of 276,445 units, which is an impressive achievement. This clearly demonstrates the success of the Blue Call campaign, which was launched to testify to the company's commitment to offering two-wheelers that add to the global spirit of Yamaha racing. "
