It's already the middle of 2022, and automakers are already working on vehicles and SUVs that will be released during the holiday season later this year. However, the month of June 2022 will see a slew of new vehicle introductions, most notably from mass-market companies such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia. In the coming weeks, we've assembled a list of all-new vehicle and SUV debuts and unveilings.
Kia EV 6 – June 2
The E-GMP architecture will be used by Kia India's flagship electric crossover, which will be released in limited numbers. The Kia EV6 for India will most likely have a 77.4kWh battery pack and come in two configurations: a rear-wheel-drive single-motor arrangement with 229hp and 350Nm, and an all-wheel-drive dual-motor version with 325hp and 605Nm.
Volkswagen Virtus – June 9
The VW Virtus, which is the sibling model of the Skoda Slavia, was presented globally in March and will be available in India in the following weeks. The inside of the midsize sedan is basically comparable to that of the Taigun, with all of the SUV's bells and whistles. The Virtus will be available in two variant lines: Dynamic Line, which includes the 115hp 1.0 TSI models, and Performance Line, which includes the 150hp 1.5 TSI models.
Hyundai Venue facelift – mid-June
The Hyundai Venue facelift is expected to sport an all-new front end design and a big interior makeover as part of the major mid-life cycle revamp. The Venue facelift is likely to be powered by the same 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 115hp, 1.2-litre petrol, and 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engines as the new Tucson SUV and the Palisade marketed internationally.
Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Brezza – end-June (price announcement)
The all-new Maruti Suzuki Brezza is anticipated to be released by the end of June, and it now has a completely new external appearance, as seen in recent spy photographs. The interior of the compact SUV is expected to be redesigned, with amenities similar to those found on the Baleno and the recently announced Ertiga/XL6. The 103hp, 1.5-litre K15C DualJet engine from the Ertiga and XL6 is expected to power the new Brezza, which will be coupled to either a 5-speed manual or a brand-new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Mahindra Scorpio-N – June 27 (price announcement)
Mahindra recently released official pictures of the all-new Scorpio-N, which will be marketed alongside the current Scorpio. The SUV is projected to be slightly cheaper than the popular XUV700, with a huge vertical touchscreen taking centre stage on the dashboard. The Scorpio-N will most likely be powered by the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engines used in the Thar and XUV700, and will ride on a ladder frame chassis.
Citroen C3 Aircross – June (India-spec model unveiling)
After the C5 Aircross SUV, the French manufacturer will shortly launch its second product in India. The C3 crossover is believed to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine based on the CMP modular platform that underpins Jeep's sub-4m SUVs. The C3 will compete against the Tata Punch, Maruti Ignis, and Nissan Magnite when it arrives.
Lexus LX500d – mid-June (price announcement)
The LX SUV, which shares the same TNGA-F body-on-frame design as the new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, will be introduced in India. The new Lexus SUV will be available in LX500d trim, with a 305hp 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine mated to a 10-speed automated transmission.
