The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) had recently issued a Vehicle Retail Data for April 2022, which shows that demand has climbed across all segments. Last month, retail sales of Tractors totaled 48,319 units, up 26.14 percent from the 38,306 units sold in April 2021. Of course, sales in April 2020, which fell to 5,706 units, cannot be taken into account because it was the first full month of the COVID-19 pandemic's shutdown.
Tractor sales grew 26.14 percent year over year to 48,319 units in April 2021, compared to 38,306 in April 2021 and 746.81 percent over 5,760 in April 2020.
Tractor sales have grown in the last month as buyers mood has improved across the rural sector. The forthcoming wedding season, as well as greater crop realisation, have all contributed to this surge in demand. Retail sales have increased year over year for every tractor manufacturer.
April 2022 Tractor Retail Sales
Mahindra was the best-selling tractor manufacturer on this list in April 2022, with 10,699 units sold. In April 2021, 8,068 units were sold, which was an increase. YoY, market share climbed from 21.06 percent to 22.14 percent. Retail sales in the Mahindra Swaraj Division increased to 8,064 units in April 2022, up from 6,225 units in April 2021. The current market share is 16.69 percent, up from 16.25 percent in the same month last year.
Sonalika Tractors, which is owned and operated by International Tractors Limited, came in third. Last month, retail sales totaled 5,808 units. This was up from 4,720 units sold in April 2021, but market share fell to 12.02 percent from 12.32 percent in April 2021. The new 'Sikander RX 50 DLX' tractor was just introduced by Sonalika. This is a fully tailored tractor for the state of Madhya Pradesh, based on crop and region-specific requirements.

TAFE Limited came in second with retail sales of 5,522 units, up from 4,510 in April 2021. On a year-over-year basis, market share fell slightly to 11.43 percent from 11.77 percent in the same month previous year.
Escorts Limited sold 5,011 tractor retail units in April 2022, up from 4,542 units sold in April 2021. YoY, market share fell from 11.86 percent to 10.37 percent. Retail sales of John Deere grew to 4,167 units in April 2021, up from 3,229 units sold the previous year, while market share increased to 8.62 percent from 8.43 percent.
Eicher tractor sales increased to 3,149 units in April 2022, up from 2,234 units in April 2021. YoY, the market share increased to 6.52 percent from 5.83 percent.
CNH Industrial sold 1,906 units last month, and Kubota Agri Machinery sold 1,151 units in April 2022, according to the list. Other tractor OEMs contributed 1,659 units to retail sales, up from 1,498 units sold in April 2021. Force Motors (367 units), VST Tillers (346 units), Indo Farm (327 units), and Captain Tractors (143 units) rounded out the list.
