Tata Safari 2021 Launched In India; price, features, specifications, you should know

Tata Motors has finally launched the long-awaited Tata Safari 2021 in India. The flagship SUV fetches a starting price of Rs. 14.69 lakh and goes up to Rs 21.45 lakh (launch prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The Indian automaker also introduced a special variant: "Adventure Persona" with a starting price of Rs. 20.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Last month, the Indian automaker announced that it would revive the legendary 'Safari' concept for Gravitas, which was unveiled at  Auto Expo 2020. Given the tremendous uproar, it was unveiled in India on Republic Day 2021. The company is already accepting bookings for Tata Safari 2021 which can be reserved through all authorized dealers, for a nominal amount of Rs. 30,000.

The new Tata Safari comes in nine variants in four models: XE, XM, XT, and XZ. The SUV is available in six and seven-seat configurations. Please note that all variants are offered in a 7-seat configuration. However, the variants offered with the captain's seats in the center row (6 seats) are limited only to the XZ + and XZA + variants.

The SUV is based on the new IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy and is supported by the World Advanced Architecture (OMEGARC) platform derived from the Land Rover D8. On the outside, the Safari has a slightly redesigned front grille with chrome studs in a triple arrow design, Xenon HID headlights, dual function LED DRL lights with tu
signals, front fog lamps, distinctive dual LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and Safari-branded roof rails, panoramic sunroof, and more. Dimensions, the new Safari is 70mm longer than the Harrier at 4,661mm, 1894mm wide, and 1786mm tall. The wheelbase was unchanged at 2,741mm. It is available in three colors: Daytona Gray, Royal Blue, Orchid White, and Tropical Mist.

The safari cabin is decked out in a two-tone Oyster white stain finish, complemented by an ash wood top. The SUV comes loaded with an 8.8-inch floating infotainment unit with Tata's IRA Connected Vehicle technology. The system also has compatibility with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and voice recognition. Other features available on the SUV are Benecke Kaliko Oyster premium white leather seat upholstery, a seven-inch instrument panel, a JBL nine-speaker sound system, an electric parking brake, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, power button, adjustable folding exterior mirrors, electric windshield wipers, 6-way powered driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Boss position, second-row seats, fully automatic temperature control (FATC) among others.

In terms of safety, the new Safari has six airbags, an antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), full disc brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a camera rear parking, hill descent control, automatic. Attenuation IRVM, ISOFIX child seat, rear parking sensors, traction control, grade control, and more.

Under the hood, the new Tata Safari is powered by a 2.0-liter Kryotec four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that complies with BS6. It's the same engine that equips its five-seat younger sister, Harrier. The oil stove is capable of producing 168 bhp at 3,750 rpm with 350 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm. Transmission tasks are carried out by a standard six-speed manual gearbox with a Hyundai sourced six-speed automatic torque converter unit.
