The first electric SUV car by Tata, the Tata Nexon EV has recently been launched in India. The car has been priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom price, pan-India). The prices are introductory and may be expected to increase in the future. But the base variant misses out on the premium kit which includes features such as the 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone colour options, power-adjustable and folding mirrors, a 7.0-inch colour MID and an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-compatible 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The electric compact SUV has been equipped with a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers a motor located on the front axle. This electric motor makes 129hp and a peak torque of 245Nm. This ensures that the Tata Nexon EV will go from 0 to 100 kph in 9.9 sec as claimed by the company. Tata claims that the new Nexon EV gives a range of 312 km certified by ARAIrnrnThe standard 15A AC charger will charge the car battery within 8-9 hours to 100 percent. While a CCS2-compatible DC fast charger will charge the battery up to 80 percent within just an hour. Tata has goals to build confidence in the consumer's minds by offering the function of energy regeneration. Through this function, the battery will get replenished when the SUV is coasting and braking. Tata provides the customers with an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty on the motor as well as the battery. The rest of the car will have a standard warranty of 3 years or 1.25 lakh kilometer as well as a 5-year extended warranty pack.rnrnTata will also be providing a free home charger. In addition to this, access will be provided to 300 DC fast chargers with preferential rates for the customers of Nexon EV. By the end of March 2020, this network is expected to expand to around 300 outlets and by the end of March 2021, 650 outlets are expected to be set up.
