Suzuki unveiled the new
Suzuki V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050XT. The standard bike focuses more on the street, while the XT variant is off-road oriented. Both bikes use a 19-inch / 17-inch front and rear combination, but while the standard variant is on metal wheels, the XT has wire-spoke units. Both use the same 1037cc engine from the V-Strom 1000, but the motor is now Euro 5-compliant.rnrnSuzuki also updated the electronic package in the 1050s, which now features traction control, driving patterns, and load-dependent ABS on a standard bike. XT variable also gets speed control and slope control. A fully digital LCD kit has been added in both options to help control all of these methods. Other exclusive XT features include a seat and an adjustable screen.rnrnThe overall design harks back to the old Suzuki DR Big model, with meaty tank extensions and driving position. Both options have a fully adjustable KYB inverted front fork and a pre-adjustable mono-shock at the back. The braking is carried out by Tokico monobloc calipers at the front, biting down on twin 310mm discs. We hope Suzuki will bring these bikes to India next year with a record variant at around Rs 14.40 lakh and XT at Rs 15 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against Honda Africa Twin, BMW R 1250 GS and Triumph Tiger 800 XCx.rn
