Porsche launched the range-topping 718 GT4 RS in India at Rs 2.54 crore (ex showroom, India). The GT4 RS sits at the very top of the 718 lineup, and unlike the GT4, the GT4 RS is only available in the Cayman Coupe bodystyle.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS: Performance upgrades

The Porsche Cayman GT4 RS is a bit lighter and much more powerful than the GT4. It has the same naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine as the GT4, but generates an additional 80 hp, bringing the total output to 500 hp. Porsche claims that the 718 GT4 RS can propel itself from 0 to 100 in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 315 km/h.

The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while the GT4 also has a 6-speed manual transmission. Porsche managed to reduce the weight of the GT4 RS by using carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic for the hood and front wings. While the RS keeps the GT 4 straps for the door handles, the RS also gets a lighter front and rear windscreen.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS: Aerodynamic updates

The GT4 RS features a swan-necked rear wing, new air intakes, and an adjustable front diffuser, along with a 30mm lower ride height than the standard 718 Cayman. These changes, Porsche says, increase downforce by 10 percent compared to the GT4, and in track-oriented performance mode, increase it by up to 60 percent. The rear quarter glass has been changed to improve the airflow to the engine, which also results in a better soundtrack, according to Porsche.

Porsche 718 lineup in India

Porsche sells the 718 in Cayman coupe and Boxster convertible. Standard 718s feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 300 horsepower. While the GTS versions have a 400-horsepower, 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine, the GT4 versions have the same engine with an additional 20hp. GT4 is the only variant in the Indian line-up of the 718 that is available with a six-speed manual transmission. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS rivals with other track-focused cars such as the Mercedes-AMG GT R.
