MG Motor India to launch its third car in India next month | MG Maxus D90 SUV

MG Motor India took out the first teaser image that confirms the debut of the Maxus D90 SUV in India. The MG D90 SUV will have its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2020 on 5th February 2020. MG Motor India had been considering the debut for this SUV to India. The Maxus D90 is already on sale in the markets of Australia and China under the LDV and Maxus brands, respectively.rnrnThe MG-badged Maxus D90 SUV car will be available with the signature MG grille that has a lot of chrome bits in it. Just like the MG Hector, the D90 will also be seen with more chrome styling on the window line and the doors as well. The India-spec of the D90 SUV will be seen with a unique alloy wheel design and other interior bits that will make it different than the model sold somewhere else.rnrnThe D90 comes with a bold and upright stance. The sporty SUV has been built on a light truck platform. It has a ladder-frame construction. The length of the car is 5,005 mm (longer than the Toyota Land Cruiser 200), width is 1,932 mm and the height measures 1,875 mm. Along with this, the wheelbase of the car is measuring 2,950 mm. If we talk about the dimensions, the company says that the D90 is bigger than most of its potential competitors in the Indian market.rnrnThe D90 SUV will be seen equipped with the features such as the adaptive LED headlights, LED DRLs, a panoramic sunroof, heated wing mirrors, gesture-controlled tailgate, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic air-conditioning, an 8.0-inch multi-info instrument cluster display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Some of the other interior design features include the leather upholstery, as well as the powered front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.rnrnThe MG Maxus D90 SUV is sold internationally with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 224hp and has been mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed auto gearbox. For the Indian version, the company has been expected to introduce an in-house developed 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel that produces a max speed of 218hp and a peak torque of 480Nm. The engine was showcased at the Guangzhou motor show in China in 2019. The engine has been developed from the FCA’s Multijet II engine.rnrnThe SUV will compete in the Indian market with various other cars including the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the like.rnrnThe expected price of the D90 is Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Maxus D90 SUV car is another addition to the list of the brand's new models which already includes the high-performance MG6 XPower TCR race car. The D90 is its third car that MG is going to launch in the Indian market. The car has been produced by SAIC Motor’s sub-brand Maxus.rnrnIn the Chinese market, the Maxus D90 has been powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 221bhp and a peak torque of 360Nm.
