On many occasions, the Hatchbacks are even considered as a compromise when we compare it to the sedan cars. But, the Kia Ceed will differ from it. Kia Ceed has a large and spacious cabin. The car has an elegant style and gives a premium feel when we sit in it. Not only that, but the car promises to establish a new sub-segment of the hatchbacks in the country.
Kia will be launching the Ceed in India this year. Kia is popular as a premium player in the European and American markets. The Kia Ceed has a European design along with a sharp look. The car has the brand's trademark 'Tiger-Nose' grille. The car is expected to be expensive as compared to the other Hatchbacks sold in India because of its amazing driving experience as well as the top pieces of equipment.
It has been indicated by the brand earlier that if the Ceed will be launched in India, then it may cost around Rs 14 to 16 Lakhs (ex-showroom price). This will compete with the prices of the top sedans including Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia. The price will be seen by many buyers as too high but Kia Motors has made it clear that the car will be making a statement as a youthful and premium car.
The Kia Ceed hatchback will do the work of building the brand in the country for the South Korean carmaker. Across the world, the Kia Ceed is in competition with the Hyundai i30 as well as the Volkswagen Golf. Although, the car will not have to face any competition in the Indian Market. It is the perfect choice for the people looking for a premium small size car.
In the Indian market, the Kia Ceed hatchback will be brought to the facility in the form of a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kit and will be assembled locally. The company has said that once the demand for Ceed exceeds 1000 units per month, then the local production of the car will be started.
The India-spec version of the hatchback may come as a 1.4-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine and a 1.6-liter diesel engine making a maximum power output of 140bhp and 136bhp respectively. The Ceed will come mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox as standard across the line.
Kia Motors has constructed a production facility on a Greenfield land in the Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh near Penukonda. The annual production capacity of the production facility is 300,000 units. The Brand currently has two cars in India, the Kia Ca
ival, and Kia Seltos. Other cars that will soon be launched in India include Kia QYI, Kia Rio.
The expected price of the Kia Ceed Hatchback is Rs.9.0 Lakh.
