▼Aprilia India has officially introduced the 2026 model year versions of the RS 457 and Tuono 457 motorcycles this February. In a strategic move to counter recent tax hikes, the brand has repositioned the pricing with the RS 457 now starting at Rs 4.22 lakh and the Tuono 457 at Rs 3.97 lakh ex-showroom. This adjustment significantly lowers the cost for buyers after the implementation of GST 2.0 last December.
Engine Specifications And Mechanical Hardware
The heart of these Italian machines remains the potent parallel twin engine that has garnered praise for its refinement and performance. Aprilia utilizes a 270 degree crank order to give the motorcycle a distinct exhaust note and character similar to a V twin engine.

Both the fully faired RS and the naked Tuono share the same chassis and swingarm architecture. The suspension duties are handled by preload adjustable upside down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is managed by a 320 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc, aided by dual channel ABS.
Fresh Color Schemes And GP Replica Design
For 2026, Aprilia has refreshed the visual appeal of the RS 457. The motorcycle is now available in two striking new color options: Coral Blue Snake and Arsenic Yellow. These vibrant liveries were first showcased at India Bike Week 2025 and are now officially available at dealerships.
The standout addition is the RS 457 GP Replica. Priced at Rs 4.37 lakh, this variant pays homage to the Aprilia RS GP MotoGP machine. It features distinctive racing graphics that set it apart from the standard models. Beyond aesthetics, the GP Replica comes equipped with functional upgrades including a bi directional quickshifter and adjustable brake and clutch levers as standard equipment. Buyers of the standard variants can also install the quickshifter as an optional accessory for an additional cost of Rs 25,000.
Strategic Pricing Adjustment And Market Competition
The pricing strategy for the 2026 models is a direct response to the GST 2.0 regulations implemented in December 2025. The new tax structure imposed a 40 percent levy on motorcycles exceeding 350 cc, which had initially pushed the Tuono 457 price up to Rs 4.24 lakh. However, Aprilia has absorbed some of these costs to bring the price down to Rs 3.97 lakh. This is a reduction of Rs 27,000 from the post tax hike figure and only Rs 2,000 higher than its original launch price in January 2025.
The RS 457 at Rs 4.22 lakh continues to compete aggressively in the sub 500 cc sportbike segment. Its primary rivals include:
- KTM RC 390: A single cylinder veteran known for raw power and agility.
- Yamaha R3: A parallel twin competitor that focuses on reliability and smooth power delivery.
- Kawasaki Ninja 500: The Japanese entrant offering a larger displacement engine and sports touring comfort.
Conclusion
The launch of the 2026 Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457 marks a consumer friendly turn for the brand in India. By correcting the prices downwards despite the heavy GST 2.0 burden, Aprilia has ensured that its premium performance motorcycles remain within reach for enthusiasts. With the addition of the race inspired GP Replica and fresh color options, the lineup now offers more variety and value than ever before.
