BMW iX electric SUV launched in India at Rs 1.16 crore - Autonexa

BMW India finally entered the luxury electric vehicle segment in the country. The carmaker launched the BMW iX electric SUV in the Indian market at a price of Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom). The electric SUV  is brought via the CBU route and is offered with a single xDrive40 trim with deliveries expected to begin in early 2022.

The BMW iX is powered by a 76.6 kWh (71kWh net) battery that produces 322 hp and 630 Nm of torque. BMW claims a 0-100 km / h sprint time of 6.1 seconds with a WLTP range of 425 km. The iX features multiple charging options. While an 11 kW wall box charger is offered as standard, the electric vehicle supports continuous charging up to 150 kW and AC charging up to 11 kW.

Visually, the BMW iX electric SUV looks futuristic and offers quite a bit of style cues, as we saw on the iNext SUV that was unveiled a few years ago. The front is dominated by the now familiar vertical grille flanked by bright LED headlights with integrated dual-line daytime running lights. The iX features high-performance 21-inch pneumatic wheels, flow-adjustable door handles, a panoramic glass roof, frameless doors, and blue features to recall one of its non-ICE features.

Inside, the iX's cabin looks luxurious and technologically advanced. It is equipped with an all-new two-spoke and six-spoke steering wheel, a curved driver display along with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a front-view display, seat-integrated speakers, gear selector and dials with a crystal finish. The cabin is made from recycled materials. For example, the surface of the doors, center console and seats is made of 50 percent recycled polyester, while the instrument panel has genuine leather tanned with olive leaves.

In India, the BMW iX competes with Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar I-Pace, Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron.
