India to become one of top five markets for Maybach brand: Mercedes

On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz India announced that the country has the potential to rank among the top five markets globally for its Maybach brand in terms of sales volume. At the launch event for the all-electric Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer highlighted the company's ambition to lead in digital and electric mobility, with a strong emphasis on the ultra-luxury segment.

The starting price for the Maybach EQS 680 SUV is set at Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom, all India).

"We have entered the top 10 markets worldwide in terms of sales numbers. We are the fastest-growing market and have sold over 1,500 Maybachs across various models," Iyer remarked.

Describing the Maybach brand as highly strategic and significant for Mercedes Benz, Iyer added, "We aim for India to grow further in this segment. Our goal is to be among the top five markets; it's only a matter of time given the growth potential here."

Mercedes-Benz emphasized its leadership in luxury electric mobility, noting that its Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) portfolio in India is experiencing steady growth and increasing sales.

The company now offers five BEVs in India: the EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, EQS sedan, and the newly launched Maybach EQS 680 SUV.

"With the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, we redefine automotive excellence in the era of electromobility. This new launch underscores our ambition to lead in digital and electric sectors, while enhancing our top-end luxury offerings," Iyer stated.

He further explained, "The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV continues to expand our BEV portfolio in India, providing a diverse range of options for our discerning customers. We firmly believe that true luxury cannot exist without sustainability. Mercedes-Benz is committed to creating the BEV ecosystem necessary for the transition to electromobility in the future."
