Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift 2021 facelift in the country with prices starting at Rs. 5.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The popular hatchback is getting a mid-life refresh with a host of improvements, both cosmetic and in terms of safety and features. Visual improvements include a new silver-finished grille on grille with thick chrome accents in the center. The model also has new two-tone exterior designs with a contrasting roof. The exterior changes are simpler to give a new look and keep most elements of the previous model.
2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift: Engine
The biggest change in 2021 Swift is under the hood. The older K12 1.2-liter engine with 83 bhp was replaced by a more powerful 1.2-liter, 90-horsepower DualJet petrol unit introduced at Dzire last year. However, the torque output remains identical at 113 Nm. The new unit also offers a start/stop function that helps increase fuel economy. The updated Maruti Suzuki Swift now has an ARAI number of 23.20km/liter in the manual version and 23.76km/liter in the automatic version, up from 21.21km/liter for the outgoing vehicle. When going inside, the seats are upholstered with revised fabrics. In terms of equipment, the Swift VXi 2021 gets a new volume head unit that features touch controls to switch volume and track. As before, the unit has Bluetooth, USB, and AUX connectivity.
In terms of features, the new Swift facelift comes with cruise control, auto-folding ORVMs with synchronizing keys, and a revised dual-capsule kit with a 4.2-inch TFT color display. There is a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Studio that provides better usability with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the safety front, the model now comes with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill-Hold on AMT, larger front and rear brakes, as well as revised steering with an improved flight mechanism. Other features include ABS with EBD, pre-tensioners, dual airbags and force limiters, front seat belt reminders, ISOFIX stabilizers, rear parking sensors with camera, and more.
