The Tata Nexon SUV, first launched in September 2017, has reached a new milestone by crossing the four lakh mark for SUVs produced in the last five years. To celebrate this achievement, Tata Motors has launched a new version of the Tata Nexon XZ+ (L) in India priced at Rs 11.38 lakh (ex-showroom). It is to be noted that the Nexon is also one of the Indian automaker's best-selling SUVs and holds the title of being the best-selling SUV in India in FY2022. In addition, the SUV (H) continued to maintain its leadership in the quarter from April to August 2022.
The Tata Nexon took one year and ten months to produce one lakh unit, and it took another year and eleven months to produce two lakh units, with third lakh units due in the next eight months. It only took seven months to manufacture the last 100,000 units.
Nexon's popularity in the compact SUV market can be attributed to a variety of factors, including the availability of multiple powertrain options including EV, its distinction as the first Indian vehicle to receive five stars in Global crash tests NCAP for adult protection, and its availability in numerous editions with distinctive cosmetic upgrades.
The new Tata Nexon XZ+ (L) variant will add to the already long SUV portfolio. This new variant will bridge the gap between the XZ+ (O) and XZ+ (P) variants. The new variant has features like a wireless charger, ventilated seats, air purifier, and other features that were previously available on the limited edition.
The new variant of the Tata Nexon will be offered with petrol and diesel engine along with manual gearboxes and AMT. Furthermore, the Tata Nexon competes in a market full of strong competitors like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and more. Meanwhile, the Indian automaker is preparing to launch the Tata Tiago EV in the Indian market, which is expected to be one of the most affordable EV hatchbacks in India.
