New Delhi: The Tata Nexon has achieved the second-highest global NCAP score, five stars, for adult and child occupant safety in the #SaferCarsForIndia test so far. Tata also ranks first in the Safari/Harrier ranking.
In 2018, the Nexon became the first car to be rated five stars by #SaferCarsForIndia. Additional safety features, like as six airbags and standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), were added to the redesigned Nexon in 2023. According to a media release from Global NCAP, the new categorization applies to cars made as of August 8, 2023.
NCAP global crash test protocols evaluate all models' frontal and side-impact protection, as well as electronic stability control. Pedestrian protection and side pillar impact protection ratings are required for vehicles that get the highest star ratings.
Tata Nexon has demonstrated a stable chassis and robust restraint systems that provide good protection. The model provided almost complete protection for child passengers in dynamic tests, and is equipped with i-size stabilizers and a passenger airbag deactivation switch, making it extremely versatile for transporting child passengers, the statement said.
The Nexon meets UN127 and GTR9 requirements for pedestrian protection as standard. The model also complies with Global NCAP's ESC requirements and provides seat belt reminders in all seating positions, the statement added.
"Tata has consistently demonstrated its commitment to safety, and Nexon's very significant result should serve as an example for other carmakers in India to follow," stated Alejandro Furas, Global Secretary General of NCAP. Tata should be pleased with the way its safety performance has continued to improve across its model line.
