May 2022 will witness a slew of car launches across all brands and segments. The varied range includes a hybrid sedan, a full-size SUV, a new compact SUV variant, and two electric cars. What does this month hold in regards to car launches? Let's find out.
Tata Nexon EV Long-Range:
Tata Motors will launch its long-range Nexon EV in India on May 11. The model is currently powered by a 30.2 kWh battery that produces 125 hp and 245 Nm of torque, with a range of 312 km. While the former is expected to remain largely unchanged, the latter is expected to increase to more than 400 km.
Honda City e: HEV
Honda City e: HEV, also known as City hybrid, will be launched in India on May 4, 2022. The model is currently being booked for Rs 21,000.
Skoda Koshak Monte Carlo
Skoda is working on a sportier iteration of the Koshak SUV, known as the Koshak Monte Carlo. The new version of the Czech brand, which will be launched in India on May 9, 2022, will receive cosmetic updates and new features.
New Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Mercedes-Benz will unveil the new Indian-spec C-Class on May 5, followed by its launch and price announcement scheduled for May 10, 2022. Unveiled last year, rival Audi A4 BMW 3 Series, the Jaguar XE will have a revised exterior design and updated interiors. Hybrid engines may also be offered at launch.
BMW i4
BMW revealed the BMW i4 in the country last week, and the company has now confirmed that the model will launch on May 26, 2022. It is expected to be available in a single version known as the eDrive 40, which features a battery pack. 83.9 kWh. Jeep Meridian
Jeep introduced the seven-seater Meridian SUV in the country last month. The automaker is now expected to launch the Compass-based model in mid-May. Meridian is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine that produces 168 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. When paired with a six-speed manual unit or a nine-speed torque converter automatic unit, power is sent to all four wheels through the all-wheel drive system.
Kia EV6
The Kia EV6 will be the brand's first electric vehicle in India, and bookings are set to begin on May 26. To be imported via the CBU route, the model is offered globally with a choice of two battery packs including a 58kWh unit and a 77.4kWh unit.
