▼The highly anticipated BMW 7 Series and i7 Facelifts have officially debuted in India, unveiled by Bollywood superstar and BMW India Brand Voice, Ranveer Singh. The luxurious updated sedans are priced starting at Rs 1.95 crore ex-showroom. Bringing a choice of dynamic combustion engines and advanced all-electric mobility, the lineup includes the petrol-powered 740i M Sport and the fully electric i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport, along with the high-performance i7 M70 xDrive variant.
Launch Event and Local Assembly Milestone
The grand launch event took place in New Delhi, attended by Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, alongside Ranveer Singh, who arrived in the sheer opulence of the top-spec i7 M70 xDrive. Emphasizing the Power of Choice philosophy, the brand aims to deliver unparalleled luxury tailored to individual buyer preferences.
A major highlight of this launch is the commitment of the brand to the Indian market. India is now officially the only country outside of Germany to locally manufacture the highly advanced BMW i7 electric sedan. The models will be assembled at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai, significantly streamlining delivery timelines. However, the flagship performance model, the i7 M70 xDrive, will be imported as a Completely Built Up unit to maintain its bespoke performance standards.
Powertrain Options and Performance Specifications
The new BMW 7 Series and i7 Facelifts offer an impressive spectrum of power options for discerning luxury buyers.
- BMW 740i M Sport: This petrol model is powered by a robust 3.0-litre direct-injection straight-six turbo engine mated to a 48 volt mild hybrid system. It delivers an impressive 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque. Power is seamlessly managed by an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, propelling the massive sedan from zero to 100 kmph in just 5.4 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
- BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport: Stepping into the electric realm, this variant utilizes a massive 112.5 kWh battery pack to produce 455 hp and 600 Nm of torque. It matches the petrol variant closely, hitting 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds, but its true party trick is the WLTP-certified range of up to 728 km on a single charge.
- BMW i7 M70 xDrive: Billed as the most powerful 7 Series ever produced, this performance EV features a dual-motor All Wheel Drive setup. It churns out a staggering 680 hp and 1015 Nm of torque in Sport mode, which surges to 1100 Nm using Launch Control or Sport Boost. This enables a blistering zero to 100 kmph sprint in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph, alongside a highly practical range of up to 686 km.
