Maruti Suzuki is all set to officially launch the five-door Jimny SUV in India tomorrow i.e. June 7th. The SUV was first shown at the Auto Expo in January this year. The automaker has already revealed the features and design as well as the color variants of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. At tomorrow's event, the company can finally announce the price of the SUV.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will compete directly against the Mahindra Thar SUV. Maruti Suzuki has already opened bookings for the upcoming Jimny SUV. It has already logged around 30,000 pre-bookings of the SUV.
As the company has already confirmed, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine. The SUV will have a five-speed manual option and a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Last month, the ARAI-certified mileage of the upcoming SUV was revealed. Maruti Suzuki Jimny will provide 16.94kmpl of mileage for the manual transmission model. For the Automatic Transmission (AT) version, the declared fuel efficiency will be 16.39 kmpl.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV will be available in two grades: Zeta and Alpha. The SUV will be offered in 7 color options. These are Pearl Arctic White, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red, Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black roof, Sizzling Red with a blue black roof, Nexa Blue and Granite Grey.
Like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the new Jimny will come with premium acoustic tuning via "Surround Sense" powered by ARKAMYS. The company says the Jimny is built on the four basic elements of an off-road machine: Ladder Frame Chassis, Ample Body Angles, 3- link rigid axle suspension, and an ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) system with low-range transfer gears (4L mode).
Inside, the SUV will feature a 9-inch touchscreen and SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system. For passenger safety, Jimny will offer six airbags, ESP with Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, a rearview camera, and ABS with EBD.
When it comes to prices, it is rumored that Maruti Suzuki Jimny may be priced in the range of 10-12 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will rival the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha SUVs.
