Kia has confirmed that it will launch the all-electric EV6 in India. While the exact launch date has not been revealed, the company revealed that bookings will commence on May 26, 2022, followed by its launch soon after .
The Kia EV6 has a futuristic design unlike anything we see on Indian roads. Although it may look like a full-size hatchback in the pictures, the Kia EV6 is quite large in size, comparable to a mid-size SUV like the Kia Sportage. It measures 4,695 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,550 mm in length, and is based on a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.
Already on sale in multiple markets around the world, the Kia EV6 is available with either a 58 kWh battery or a 77.4 kWh battery pack in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive formats. The base Kia EV6 RWD with 58kWh battery has a WLTP certified range of approximately 378 km. The RWD EV6 engine with a 77.4 kWh battery can travel up to 528 km on a single charge (WLTP combined cycle). With a power of 226 horsepower and 350 Nm, it can accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 183 km / h. The AWD EV6's dual-motor drive and 77.4 kWh battery pack has 321 horsepower on tap and 605 Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100 km / h in just 5.2 seconds.
A 7 kW home charger will recharge your EV6 from 10 to 100 percent in 7 hours 20 minutes. Using a regular three-prong household plug, the EV6 would take 32 hours and 45 minutes to reach full 10%. A 50 kW fast charger turns the EV6 engine from 10 to 80 percent in 1 hour 13 minutes; Ultra-fast 350 kW chargers take just 18 minutes to recharge from 10 to 80 percent. These figures are applicable to the 77.4 kWh version. Obviously, a battery with a smaller 58 kWh battery will have shorter charging times.
In the US, the Kia EV6 is priced at roughly Rs 31 to 42 lakh. When imported to India, expect the EV6 to carry a fairly hefty upwards of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
