Honda Cars India confirms development of new SUVs for IndiarnrnIt is said to hit showrooms in late 2023.rnrnWhile SUVs have generated a lot of interest around the world, sedans and hatchbacks have dominated Honda Cars India's portfolio so far. That is set to change with the Japanese automaker confirming the development of an India-focused SUV in late 2023.rnSpeaking about their new SUV, Honda Cars India President and CEO, Jaku Nakanishi, said: “I can confirm that Honda is developing a new SUV product that has been specifically developed for the Indian market where customers focus more on SUVs and it's increasing market share in this segment. Details of Honda's upcoming SUV are still being worked out, but it could use Honda City's fifth-generation powertrain. So we wouldn't be surprised if it had a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 121 horsepower and 100PS for 1.5-liter diesel engines under the hood.rnrnHonda N7X Interior Honda N7X InteriorrnrnIn a market where features are prioritized, Honda Cars upcoming SUV should come loaded with an infotainment system with connected car technology, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, partial digital instrument cluster, sunroof, cruise control and push-button keyless entry.rnOccupant safety must be handled by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and electronic stability control.rnHonda's new SUV could fit into the highly contested compact SUV class with models such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq . Honda may be late to the party, but if you can get the price right, between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, you might have a winner in your hands.
