Coimbatore-based electric vehicle maker Boom Motors has launched the Corbett-14 electric scooter. This is the company's first offering, and the Boom Corbett-14 is priced at INR 86,999 for the standard variant, priced as low as 1.20 lakh for the EX variant. All prices are ex-showroom and introductory. Boom Motors says it will raise prices up to Rs 3,000 in the standard version and up to Rs 5,000 on the EX version at a later date. Bookings for the new Corbett 14 have started online for a token value of ₹ 499, while deliveries will start from January 2022. Corbett Rugged G1 rivals and looks quite similar to the latter as well.
The Boom Corbett-14 uses a 3 kW motor, while the Corbett 14-EX uses a 4 kW BLDC hub motor. The standard model has a top speed of 65 km / h, which is up to 75 km / h in the EX. The Corbett-14 has a single interchangeable 2.3 kWh battery that can be charged at home and promises a range of up to 100 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the EX gets two interchangeable battery sets and has a range of 200km. Boom says the charging time is 2.5 hours with a quick charger and four hours with a standard charger.
On the features front, the Boom Corbett-14 comes with LED headlights, 30 litres of under-seat storage, a tracking app that will tell you how many trees you've saved, the gas mileage you've saved, the reduction in emissions from CO2, plus accident/theft detection and parental mode with speed limiter.
The electric offering uses 4-point adjustable front springs and 4-point dual adjustable rear units. Braking tasks are performed by discs at both ends. Boom offers a 5-year warranty on the battery and a 7-year warranty on the double-cradle steel chassis of the Corbett-14.
