The Lexus ES facelift is revealed before it goes on sale in international markets later this year. The luxury sedan is getting an updated exterior styling, more safety features, and important changes in mechanics.
2021 Lexus ES: Design
The changes to the Lexus ES are minimal and focus more on chassis and technology upgrades than design. There is a Lexus-branded “spindle” grille, new “Bladescan” adaptive LED headlights. In addition, a range of new designs and colors are available for the alloy wheels, offered in 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch sizes.
Lexus says the central infotainment screen has been shifted forward – closer to front-seat occupants – and now has touchscreen functionality. Depending on the variant, the touchscreen is available in two sizes – 8.0 inches and 12.3 inches.
2021 Lexus ES: Overall updates
Mechanical updates include a rigid rear suspension set-up, which is said to allow the steering inputs to respond “more linearly”. The efforts are applied towards reducing vibration from braking and improving the electronic brake system.
The 2021 Lexus ES also gets the latest Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of active safety systems that adds in additional safety tech such as emergency steering assist, intersection turning assist, and a curve speed reduction function with the radar cruise control among others. The system now is powered by a radar and lens camera to improve the effectiveness of the active safety systems.
Lexus has not revealed any changes to the engine line-up so we expect the range of hybrid and petrol engine options from the current ES line-up.
