2024 is going to be an exciting year for car enthusiasts in India, with a lineup of new launches and upgrades that promise to redefine the automotive landscape. From sleek SUVs to sporty hatchbacks and cutting-edge EVs, the year holds many options for every buyer. Let's look into the list of upcoming cars that are set to make entry in 2024.

Mahindra Thar 5-door

The longer version of the popular Mahindra Thar, known as the Mahindra Thar 5-door, is getting a lot of attention with leaked photos and rumors swirling around it. Set to debut in India on August 15, this SUV is expected to start at Rs 15 lakh. It's going to be bigger than the current Thar and will come with a lot of fancy features to make it feel more luxurious.

Inside, you can expect a sunroof, a big touch screen for music and navigation, and fancy air conditioning that lets you set different temperatures for different parts of the car. It will also have cool safety features like multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and a fancy camera system that gives you a 360-degree view around the car.

Under the hood, you'll find either a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine or a 2.2-liter diesel engine. And you'll have the choice of shifting gears manually or letting the car do it for you with an automatic transmission.

Citroen Basalt

The Citroen Basalt is set to make its debut in the Indian car market as the French carmaker's SUV coupe. Priced around Rs 11 lakh, it's expected to offer a blend of style and performance at an affordable price.

Inside, you can expect a range of modern features, including a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It'll also come equipped with a digital driver's display, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, rear AC vents, and steering-mounted audio controls. Safety features are likely to include six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), and rear parking sensors, along with a 360-degree camera for added convenience.

Powering the Basalt will be a 110 PS 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, similar to the one used in Citroen's C3 models. Transmission options are expected to include both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, providing flexibility for different driving preferences.

Tata Altroz Racer

In the near future, Tata is gearing up to unveil the Tata Altroz Racer, a sportier rendition of its popular Altroz hatchback. Priced at approximately Rs 10 lakh, this new variant is set to cater to enthusiasts looking for a thrilling driving experience.

With competitors like the Hyundai i20 offering sportier versions, it's a strategic move for Tata to introduce the Altroz Racer to the market. The upcoming Tata Altroz Racer is expected to boast a range of premium features, including a spacious 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It's also likely to feature a digital driver’s display and ventilated front seats for added comfort. Under the hood, the Tata Altroz Racer will pack a punch with a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the Nexon, delivering 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, it promises a dynamic driving experience. Additionally, an automatic transmission option is expected to be available, providing greater versatility for drivers.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce the 2024 Swift Dzire, and it's bringing some exciting updates along with it. Spotted during testing sessions, this upcoming model will feature a segment-first sunroof, adding a touch of luxury to the sedan. With an expected price tag of around Rs 7 lakh, it's set to offer great value for money.

Inside the cabin, the 2024 Dzire is likely to come equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other notable features include automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger for added convenience. Safety-wise, expect six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and a reverse parking camera for enhanced security.

Powering the 2024 Dzire will be a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 82 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. You'll have the option of choosing between manual and automatic transmissions to suit your driving preferences. Additionally, for those looking to save on fuel costs, the entry-level sedan will also offer a factory-fitted CNG kit.

Tata Curvv

Sporting a sleek coupe body style, it exudes vibes reminiscent of the "baby Urus." Priced at approximately Rs 10.5 lakh, it's poised to go head-to-head with the upcoming Citroen Basalt.

Expected to be loaded with features, the Tata Curvv is rumored to come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital 10.25-inch driver's display, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, keyless entry, and push-button start. Safety features are likely to include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Under the hood, the Tata Curvv is expected to offer both petrol and diesel engine options. These may include a 125 PS 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 115 PS 1.5-liter diesel engine borrowed from the Nexon.

Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV represents the electric variant of the popular mid-size SUV. Expected to hit the market with a price tag of approximately Rs 30 lakh, it commands a premium of around Rs 4-5 lakh compared to its ICE-powered counterpart.

Loaded with advanced features, the Harrier EV is anticipated to come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and a premium 10-speaker JBL sound system. Comfort amenities include dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof for an enhanced driving experience. Safety features will include a comprehensive setup with 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and a 360-degree camera. Additionally, it is expected to incorporate level-2 ADAS features for added safety and convenience.

While specific specifications of the Harrier EV are yet to be revealed, it is confirmed to feature dual motors, transforming the mid-size SUV into an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

Kia EV9

Set to debut in India towards the end of 2024, the Kia EV9 stands as the epitome of a full-size electric SUV. Representing Kia’s pinnacle of luxury, it is anticipated to carry a price tag of approximately Rs 80 lakh upon its Indian launch.

Globally renowned for its advanced features, the KIA EV9 boasts a dual integrated 12.3-inch infotainment and driver's display setup, ensuring seamless connectivity and information accessibility. With 6 fast-charging USB ports and wireless phone charging, staying connected on the go is effortless. The SUV also offers three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold for added convenience and comfort.

When it comes to safety, the KIA EV9 leaves no stone unturned. Equipped with up to 8 airbags and a comprehensive suite of ADAS features, including electronic stability control (ESC), ABS, and hill-assist control, it ensures uncompromising safety for all occupants.

Offering versatility in performance, the EV9 is expected to offer multiple battery pack options and the flexibility to choose between single and double electric motors.

MG Gloster Facelift

MG India is gearing up to introduce the 2024 MG Gloster facelift in the latter half of 2024, aiming for a price tag around Rs 40 lakh. This revamped version is poised to elevate the MG Gloster's appeal and pose a strong competition to the Toyota Fortuner in the market.

Anticipated features of the upcoming Gloster include a sophisticated 12.3-inch infotainment system with integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with convenient amenities like wireless phone charging and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, expect a luxurious ambiance enhanced by ambient lighting, 12-way powered front seats with massage and ventilation functions, and three-zone climate control for optimal comfort.

On the safety front, the MG Gloster is expected to offer comprehensive protection with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts, and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Under the hood, the Gloster will be powered by a choice of two diesel engines: a 2-liter turbo-diesel generating 161 PS and 374 Nm of torque, and a 2-liter twin-turbo diesel delivering an impressive 216 PS and 479 Nm of torque. Both engine options will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth and efficient performance.

Hyundai Alcazar 

The anticipated arrival of the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift is set to grace Indian roads by the year-end of 2024. With an expected starting price of Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), this revamped model promises an enhanced exterior design and interior overhaul reminiscent of the 2024 Creta.

Expect a feature-packed experience with amenities such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless phone charging, and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. Additionally, the Alcazar facelift will boast extras like a twin-camera dash cam, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats for added comfort. Safety-wise, it will come equipped with ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill-start assist control (HAC), electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, and a 360-degree camera for enhanced security.

Under the hood, two engine options will be available: a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine churning out 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual for the diesel variant, while the petrol variant will offer both 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox options.

Kia Carnival

Anticipated to hit the Indian market with an approximate price tag of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kia Carnival was recently spotted undisguised in India, offering enthusiasts a closer glimpse.

This luxurious ride is poised to impress with its array of features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver's display, panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, ventilated seats, air purifier, and rear seat entertainment system. Safety is a top priority, with expected features like 6 airbags, Level-2 ADAS capabilities, and a 360-degree camera.

Under the hood, the KIA Carnival is likely to house a potent 2.2-liter diesel engine delivering 200 PS, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth power delivery to the front wheels.
