In the ever growing and competitive Indian automotive market dominated by SUVs, safety is rapidly becoming a need for the customers. While Tata Punch, Tata Nexon, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Mahindra Scorpio-N offer commendable safety features and ratings from Global NCAP, they are still not the safest cars in India. So which are the safest cars in India?
Based on the robust OMEGARC architecture derived from the Land Rover's D8 platform, both the Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier are considered the safest cars in India. Equipped with six airbags and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard, these SUVs have earned five-star safety ratings in both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection categories from Global NCAP. They have achieved nearly perfect scores of 33.05 out of 34 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection. That’s not the only thing, Bharat NCAP has also awarded them with an impressive five-star safety rating.
In terms of pricing, the Tata Safari ranges between Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 27.34 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tata Harrier is priced from Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 26.44 lakh (ex-showroom).
Under the hood, both SUVs share the excellent Kryotec 2.0-litre diesel engine, delivering 170PS of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. This engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
With their outstanding safety features, robust architecture, and powerful performance, the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier stand out as the safest SUV options in the Indian automotive market, offering peace of mind to the customers prioritizing safety for themselves and their family on the road.
