Suzuki e Access Electric Scooter Now Launched at Rs 1.88 Lakh

The name 'Access' has been synonymous with reliable family scootering in India for over a decade. Now, Suzuki Motorcycle India is finally flicking the switch to electric. The brand has launched its first-ever electric scooter, the Suzuki e-Access, at a starting price of Rs 1.88 lakh (ex-showroom).

It has been a long wait for Suzuki fans, but the Japanese giant is finally here to challenge the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and the Ather Rizta.

The Big Launch: A Premium Entry

Suzuki isn't playing the budget game here. By pricing the e-Access at Rs 1.88 lakh, they are positioning it as a premium, high-quality offering. Manufactured right here at their Gurugram facility, this scooter marks Suzuki’s first "global strategic battery electric vehicle."

Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of Suzuki Motorcycle India, emphasized that the focus is on "long-life battery, agile handling, and high-quality fit & finish." Essentially, they are promising the same "fill-it-shut-it-forget-it" peace of mind, just without the fuel.

Battery, Range & Performance

The heart of the e-Access is built for safety and longevity. Unlike some rivals that use NMC batteries, Suzuki has opted for a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

  • Battery Capacity: 3.07 kWh
  • Claimed Range: 95 km on a single charge.
  • Motor Power: 4.1 kW (Peak Power).
  • Torque: A punchy 15 Nm.

While 95 km might sound modest compared to some rivals claiming 150 km+, it is usually a realistic "true range" for daily city commutes. The LFP chemistry is also known for better thermal stability, which is a big plus for Indian summers.

Charging Times

Suzuki offers flexibility for charging, whether you are in a rush or parking overnight.

  • Portable Charger: 0 to 80% in 4 hours 30 minutes.
  • Fast Charger: Fully charges the battery in just 2 hours 12 minutes.

Design & Features: Familiar Yet Fresh

Visually, the e-Access doesn't try to look like a spaceship. It retains the friendly, approachable silhouette of the petrol Access but adds modern EV touches.

  • Platform: Built on a sturdy underbone frame.
  • Lighting: Full LED lighting setup and catchy two-tone alloy wheels.
  • Tech: A fully digital instrument console that offers Bluetooth connectivity and app integration.
  • Convenience: Includes a USB charging port, reverse mode, and regenerative braking to squeeze out extra range.

Ride Modes

You get three distinct riding modes to suit your mood:

  1. Eco: For maximum range.
  2. Ride A: Balanced performance.
  3. Ride B: Likely the sportiest setting for quick overtakes.

New Colors & "Personas"

Suzuki knows style matters. The e-Access comes in four distinct dual-tone color combinations, including a brand-new option launched specifically for this model.

  • New: Metallic Matte Stellar Blue + Metallic Matte Fibroin Gray.
  • Classic: Pearl Grace White + Metallic Matte Fibroin Gray.
  • Bold: Metallic Matte Black No. 2 + Metallic Matte Bordeaux Red.
  • Unique: Pearl Jade Green + Metallic Matte Fibroin Gray.

Comparison: Suzuki e-Access vs. The Rivals

The Rs 1.88 lakh price tag puts the e-Access in the deep end of the pool. Here is how it stacks up against the competition.

Final Verdict

The Suzuki e-Access is clearly aiming for the loyalist—the buyer who trusts the Suzuki badge implicitly and prioritizes build quality over raw specs on a brochure.

Buy it if:

  • You want a "no-nonsense" family scooter that feels familiar.
  • Safety and battery longevity (LFP tech) are your top priorities.
  • You prefer Japanese engineering and fit-and-finish.

Suzuki has entered the chat late, but they have entered with a product that feels solid. Now, it’s up to the Indian buyer to decide if the premium price is worth the peace of mind.
