Skoda has launched the Kushaq Onyx edition automatic at Rs. 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This variant boasts more features borrowed from the higher variants and here are the top five highlights.
LED lamps
Unlike the entry-level trims that get conventional headlamps, the Onyx edition has sporty LED headlights with daytime running lights and cornering fog lamps.
Tecton wheel cover
The car does not run on alloy wheels, but steel rims with a Tecton wheel cover. It clearly distinguishes this version from the top-spec variants.
Onyx badging
There is no additional differentiation outside apart from an Skoda Kushaq Onyx edition badge on the rear door's window frame and an optional decal on the side. Inside, the door sills come with onyx badges, as do those on the floor mats and cushions.
Automatic climate control with touch panel
Another unique feature of the Onyx version is that it has a touch panel for the automatic climate control unit. Lower versions miss this feature.
Features from the higher Ambition trim
Prospective buyers will also benefit from paddle shifters, hill hold control and a rear wiper with defroster. These are all features from the high-spec Ambition variant.
Powertrain options for the Kushaq Onyx Edition
The Onyx variant was first introduced last year and was offered only with a 1.0-litre TSI engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This petrol engine produces 114 HP and 178 Nm of torque and continues to power the new model. However, it is now also available with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
