Samsung has launched a energy management service for Tesla electric vehicles in the United States as part of its strategic partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity at home, industry sources said on Wednesday.
Samsung's "SmartThings Energy" platform is now available to Tesla drivers in the US, allowing them to monitor and control the charging status of their electric cars' batteries and the power generated by solar panels, according to sources.
In sync with the Powerwall “Storm Watch” feature in the Tesla app, the AI-powered SmartThings connectivity platform alerts users on their Samsung TVs and connected mobile devices in the event of severe weather conditions, such as tornadoes and heavy snowfall.
The Samsung-Tesla collaboration focuses on integrating Samsung Electronics' SmartThings Energy with Tesla's range of energy product lineup, including the Powerwall home battery, solar inverter, Wall Connector charging solutions and electric vehicles.
Samsung Electronics said it plans to expand the service outside the United States in the future.
