Nissan Magnite CNG with AMT Transmission Launched in India

Nissan India has officially expanded its CNG retrofitment program by launching the Nissan Magnite CNG with AMT (EZ‑Shift) option. This move brings together the fuel efficiency of CNG and the convenience of an automatic transmission, offering buyers a more practical and budget‑friendly SUV alternative.

Key Highlights

  • CNG retrofitment now available for AMT and manual variants
  • Kit price: ₹71,999 (Rs 3,000 cheaper after GST 2.0 revision)
  • Warranty: 3 years or 1,00,000 km
  • Integrated dual fuel lid for petrol and CNG refueling
  • Available across 13 Indian states, including Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka

A Smarter and Safer Integration

The new retrofitment comes with a re‑engineered fuel lid design, now housing both petrol and CNG valves under a single flap. Earlier, the Magnite’s CNG filling port was placed inside the engine bay—an inconvenient setup for daily refueling.

This integrated design not only enhances safety but also improves user accessibility while maintaining the SUV’s clean exterior look.

Engine and Performance

The Nissan Magnite CNG uses its 1.0‑litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with both 5‑speed manual and 5‑speed AMT transmissions. While the performance remains unchanged, the key specs are as follows:

Engine Type

1.0‑litre NA Petrol (CNG compatible)

Power Output

72 PS

Torque

96 Nm

Transmission

5‑Speed Manual / 5‑Speed AMT

Kit Price

₹71,999

Mileage (Est.)

24 km/kg (city) to 30 km/kg (highway)

The CNG retrofitment has been jointly developed with Motozen Fuel Systems and approved by the Government of India. It is installed exclusively at authorized Nissan retrofitment centers, ensuring full compliance and quality assurance.

Extended Coverage and Variants

Customers can now retrofit their CNG kits in all variants using the 1.0L NA petrol engine. The Magnite CNG retrofitment program currently operates across 13 states with plans for further expansion. Prices for the Magnite AMT range between ₹6.89 lakh to ₹9.70 lakh (ex‑showroom), making it one of the most affordable AMT SUVs with a CNG option in India.

Official Statement

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, remarked:

“By expanding the CNG retrofitment program to the EZ‑Shift variant, we’re making Magnite ownership more accessible and practical. The new fuel lid integration combined with affordability and reliability enhances customer confidence and convenience.”

What This Means for Buyers

This update strengthens Nissan’s position in India’s growing eco‑friendly segment. With its combination of automatic convenience, lower running costs, and long warranty coverage, the Nissan Magnite CNG AMT is now a stronger competitor in the compact SUV market, appealing to both urban commuters and highway travelers seeking sustainable performance.
