Some of the old favorites combined with some new and innovative ones- the New Tata Nexon is a perfect blend of features that car lovers would definitely appreciate and wish to get in theirs. The basic design and the engine have remained the same as in the manual models.
The main difference is made by the AMT (Automated Manual Transmission Unit). The six-speed AMT is a great substitute for the regular gearbox. Instead of the gear knob, we have an AMT shifter which has the signs ‘R’, ‘N’, ‘A’ and ‘M’ apart from the ‘+’ and ‘-’ signs. You can select the driving mode with the help of the rotary knob. This is one feature that has been retained from the Nexon Manual models.
Another area where things have not changed is the engine. The diesel engine with four cylinders is rated at 110PS and 260Nm while in the petrol variants it is 110PS and 170Nm.
Some new gearbox functions have also been incorporated, one of them being the ‘creep’ function which is useful for driving heavy traffic. Nexon is also the first car in the country to provide different driving modes like ‘Sport’, ‘Eco’ and ‘City’ along with an AMT unit (available only in the XZA+ variant). As a result, the engine-transmission characteristics will be completely changed for the automatic and semi-automatic modes. There is also the ‘Crawl’ mode where the driver does not have to put in much effort while on a heavy traffic and can move forward slowly yet smoothly. The car will move forward with the gear stick placed at the D-mode and without requiring any accelerator input for the purpose. Another remarkable feature is the smart hill assist which will prevent the car from rolling down the mountain terrain. The auto-transmission will be shifted to a lower gear to help in an easy launch. Some other smart features include the anti-stall, fast-off and kick-down features.
The car is also great in terms of visuals, especially because of the ‘Etna Orange’ colour which is a new addition to the world of Tata cars and contrasts well with the ‘Sonic Silver’ colour of the roof. These colours make the car look funky as well as classy at the same time.
Additionally, there are more features that will make the car look attractive and make your ride more enjoyable such as projector headlamps, DRLs with Feline-Eye Shape, Sound System with Speakers, voice alerts, push-start button for the engine and more.
The car is priced in the range of Rs 7-10 lakhs, the price depending on whether you choose the petrol or the diesel variants. Tata Dealerships, as you might know, had started to accept bookings for the car at Rs 11000 in the recent past.
The new car from Tata will give a tough competition to the models from other brands like Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. However, the revolutionary feature of AMT gives it an edge over its competitors.
