The fifth-generation BMW X5 has launched globally as one of the most versatile premium luxury sports activity vehicles in the world. The experience is supported by a 3D head-up display and the latest Panoramic iDrive interface. Buyers can opt for a 14.6-inch passenger display. The cabin utilizes premium materials like slate and glass accents. Additional elements include automatic doors, a panoramic sunroof, plus ventilated and massaging sports seating choices.
Diverse Powertrain Options and Electric Capabilities
BMW X5 offers five distinct powertrain options. Petrol and diesel variants headline the initial launch, followed closely by heavily electrified iterations.
The combustion engine options deliver impressive performance data:
- Petrol X5 40 xDrive: Uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine with a 48V mild hybrid network to yield 400 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque.
- Diesel X5 40d xDrive: Yields a robust 313 horsepower paired with a massive 670 Nm of pulling torque.
- Plug In Hybrid Models: Includes the efficient X5 50e xDrive making 489 horsepower and the powerful X5 M60e xDrive pushing out 612 horsepower. Both achieve an electric range of up to 102 kilometers.
Pure Electric Power and Hydrogen Innovation
The fully electric variant features a 141 kWh battery pack with a dual motor configuration, generating 578 horsepower and 805 Nm of torque. It delivers a WLTP range of up to 845 kilometers and charges from 10 to 80 percent in 23 minutes.
BMW will also introduce a sustainable hydrogen variant called the iX5 Hydrogen later. Developed with Toyota, this model uses a fuel cell system paired with a compact battery.
