As of March 31, 2024, the company possesses 193 pending patent applications, having collectively filed 2,212 applications since inception. These patents represent a diverse array of functionalities, including advancements in powertrain technology for both internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV), vehicle mechanical systems, cutting-edge electronics, manufacturing processes, innovative electric tractors, and sophisticated engineering solutions.
Parallelly, Tata Motors reached a significant milestone by securing its highest-ever grant of 333 patents during the previous fiscal year, contributing to its extensive portfolio exceeding 850 granted patents. Furthermore, Tata Motors demonstrated its commitment to innovation by filing 222 patents and 117 design applications in FY24, marking unprecedented levels of intellectual property generation in the company's history.
The patent filings of both Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors encompass a broad spectrum of groundbreaking innovations, addressing pivotal automotive industry trends such as connectivity, electrification, sustainability, and safety (CESS).
