India's Biggest Electric Bus Drive Begins with 14028 Buses Plan

The Indian government announced the largest rollout of electric buses in history under the PM e-Dhansi Scheme, marking yet another very large push for green mobility. There are plans to deploy 14,028 electric buses in major cities across India and with a budget of ₹10,900 crore, it displays a strong shift towards sustainable public transport in India. Electric Buses Allocation Across Major Cities

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy led a high-level inter-ministerial review to finalize the distribution and coordinate with key states. The buses will be deployed across several metros:

  • Bengaluru: 4,500 electric buses

  • Delhi: 2,800 electric buses

  • Hyderabad: 2,000 electric buses

  • Ahmedabad: 1,000 electric buses

  • Surat: 600 electric buses

This rollout marks a key milestone in the PM e-Drive Scheme, aimed at promoting eco-friendly public transport.

Minister’s Vision for Green Urban Mobility

H.D. Kumaraswamy said this is more than an allocation of buses and it is a progressive and environmentally friendly initiative, using electric buses.

    "We are not just allocating buses, we are creating India's transport future by allocating
       electric buses," he said.

The agreement and endorsement provided from states of Karnataka, Delhi and Telangana and Gujarat reflects the alignment and collaboration of intentions and delivery of buses in adoption.
